There are two libraries one in each of our two campuses. The library space is not only adequate for all our users but it is both quiet and beautiful offering our users the best environment for reading, study and discussion.

Information Resources

Umma University collection is very current and relevant. The print resource collection is very unique in that we hold a collection of above 5000 volumes in Arabic for the Sharia and Islamic Studies and Arabic Programmes. The total collection is over 16000 volumes.
Umma university library is a member of KLISC through which we enable our users to access thousands of Journals holding millions of articles from all over the world. This is made possible by our exceptionally high internet connectivity which is available to our users through both cable and Wi Fi. The library has also subscribed for off campus access service to ensure that library patrons access the resources wherever they are.
Print resources are organized through the Library of Congress Classification System.

The University Library has an adequate and well qualified staff in both libraries. This ensures that the clients receive the best service as can be.

  • Circulation Services
    All registered members are allowed to borrow information resources.

Loan Periods

Undergraduate Students: 2 items for a period of 2 weeks
Academic Staff and Postgraduate Students: 4 items for a period of 1 month
Non-teaching staff: 2 items for a period of 2 weeks

Information Literacy
The Library offers information literacy training to all the clients to empower them in the use of library resources and access to information. This is conducted as new student orientation and specific group programmes.

Technology Support
The Library assists registered students with access to library electronic resources via Wi-Fi on their electronic devices.

Reference services
The library also offers reference services to its patron. We have a fulltime Reference Librarian who assists library user with their queries.
